My future-mathematician friend was having trouble understanding the difference between poetry and prose. I couldn’t stop thinking till I had an answer.
Poem to a poet is like your favourite song to you
Not in the sense of being rhythmic
But of coming out in a natural flow
And of expressing something connected to you,
knowingly or unknowingly.
When you write a story,
Or an article, or a drama,
You put in your best effort,
Your best of mind….
To make it elegant, subtle, thoughtful.
Poetry just does not work that way
It comes out on its own
Triggered by emotions, events, love,
And memories.
And when it’s out there, you feel good, free, happy.
