I looked across, and saw my close friends tying the knot.
I wondered – what is it that sets them apart?
What makes them eligible and not me? Or my friends?
It wasn’t age.
It wasn’t maturity.
It wasn’t pressure.
It was love.
Was it love?
I know folks in love, still unmarried after years…
I know folks not in love, still married after years…
Yet they sat there,
Taking the step that seemed huge to everyone.
I looked across, and saw my close friends tying the knot.
Through the three days, I witnessed reflections on their faces.
Reflections of disco lights…
Reflections of yellow colour…
Reflections of fire…
And I tried to look through those reflections.
Behind the bubbles of rosiness,
laid fear, anxiety, and uncertainty…
blurring all the noises, all the sparkle of these parties,
pounding their heart with every tick of the clock,
reminding just around the corner lies a new chapter…
A chapter they’re sure and unsure of.
I looked across, and saw my close friends tying the knot.
The knot of togetherness,
The knot of promises,
The knot of blessings and love,
The knot of compromises.
The knot of no returns.
They weren’t really tying a knot…
They weren’t really praying to God…
They weren’t really confident enough. Nobody is.
They were just courageous.
They could take a step which seemed too big,
A leap of faith.
