Fall

There comes a time
Every now and then
The sole things I loved
Separate from my den

The leaves that were the juice of my life
The green, the yellow and orange and red
Leave me, living up to their name
Until death they won’t part is what they had said

I clasped them strong until I could
But who’s to stop the winds of time
Every now and then there comes a time
That takes away what I thought was mine

But time goes on for long I read
Days keep dawning and nights go sweep
I will stand here all strong and still
Until a new leaf springs out to creep
